MIA PHOTO FAIR 2016 is opening on April the 28th at The Mall in Porta Nuova in Milan (Italy).
arsprima will be present at stand B47 with the project named Trascendenze (Transcendence) curated by Cristina Gilda Artese in which two artists, Francesca Manetta and Kamil Vojnar, exchange views about the iconography of the winged woman.
Francesca Manetta is showing a sneak preview of her new photo series entitled Firebird loosely based on the well-known Russian-Slavic fairy tale The Firebird which was also the subject matter of a very famous ballet.
The main character, played by the artist herself, is a woman with flame-red plumage which Manetta considers to be a symbol of her soul, a bit freak and a bit crazy.
The curator selected a number of works by Czech artist Kamil Vojnar, who has been living in California over the last few years. The main characters of these works are angel-like female figures (little girls and young women), portrayed in a moment of rest, of contemplation or simply in stolen instants of their daily life.
An interesting and attractive juxtaposition, in an exhibition project which will immerse the visitors in a surreal and at the same time fairy-tale atmosphere, where it may perhaps be possible to forget the detached mood of a trade fair.
A way to discover two artists for whom photography is a narrative language very close to the language of painting.
We are waiting for you!
